The only blowhole of Sri Lanka and the second largest in the world, the Hummanaya is a natural marvel formed by cliffs with a broken gap in the centre. When the oceanic waves hit the cliff, the high pressure of the water force causes the water to spurt through the crack. In most cases the water rises up to 80 feet high or more depending on weather conditions, if windy it will cause the waves to hit with a higher force causing higher rise of the water.
You can hear the thunderous sound even from a distance since once in every 10-20 minutes, the water sprays upwards with a whooshing sound. It is a unique yet thrilling experience to witness it, a natural fountain hence it becoming a popular tourist attraction, drawing in many a crowd.
Visit this rare site with beautiful rocky cliffs and be amazed at this natural wonder. You can capture this shoot of water if you are lucky to catch it in time.
