After breakfast drive to the Madu river and embark on a boat safari through mangrove marshes to see a variety of bird life, butterflies and reptiles in their natural habitat. Visit a turtle hatchery, a heaven for baby turtles until they are ready to be released to the open oceans. If you are lucky, have the opportunity to release a turtle back in to the ocean. Witness the unique art of Stilt fishing. Then drive to explore the jewel of the south, the Dutch Fort of Galle, a quaint time-capsule city, with cobblestone streets, restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. Spend some time exploring the ramparts and streets of the fort by foot.
Later drive to Colombo and check in to your overnight hotel. Enjoy a night out at the Old Dutch Hospital a popular and glamorous dining venue with both indoor and al fresco dining options.
