The bay of Weligama is an ideal spot for snorkelling. The shallow reefs and rock formations are home to a variety of fish and marine life. Snorkelling in this shallow reef will provide you the opportunity to see exotic species of fish. A noted dive site in Weligama, which can be reached by taking a boat ride of 30 minutes towards the southern region of the Weligama Bay, is the Prince Heinrich Patch (PHP). While diving in this area, you will be able to witness marine life such as giant moray eels, honeycomb moray eels, yellow margin moray eels and manta rays in action in their own habitat. If you wish to dive with Nudibranchs (a species of soft-bodied, marine gastropod molluscs with stunning vibrant colours), Bridge Rock is to the place to visit. The Yala Rock; an underwater mountain of rocks, is also a dive site that has to be explored by diving enthusiasts.
