The plateau of Horton Plains rolls across to a sudden end, World’s End – a remarkable escarpment that drops 4000 feet and is a viewpoint along a 9 km loop track through the forest and across the plains of the wildlife conservation area.
The trek begins by walking towards a fork in the road which is where the loop starts. Most people choose to turn left since it is the most commonly taken route and gets you to World’s End much faster. The right path takes you visiting Baker’s Falls first. Once you take the left turn, you will walk through grassy hills and head towards the dense jungle. You would encounter seeing species of animals such as monkeys along the trek till you come to a clear area which is Little World’s End. The view from that point is simply beautiful especially if you have left early in the morning, you would be able to catch the sunrise over the mountains and see the clouds swirling below in the valleys. From this point, the trek continues for a further 20 minutes taking you through quite a bit of a descent through a rocky surface and eventually reaching World’s End.
The trip back to the entrance of Horton Plains is through the loop taking you via Baker’s Falls. The trek can be quite strenuous and steep and approximately 30 minutes to reach the path down to Baker’s Falls. Thereafter you would walk through grassy hilltops to the entrance. The entire trek would take approximately 2.5 hours.
